I am 5’1 and have a 27 inch waist and 36 inch hips currently. I didn’t want this to be too tight on my waist, so I asked the store if the size large would be good and they said it would. The size large is perfect. It doesn’t pinch my waist and I won’t have to worry about it rolling down my waist because it’s too tight. Size medium would have been too small for my preference.

I get a different pair of leggings everytime I repeat the same order, but they are all good in their own way haha. Nice and tight. Make sure to wash them a few times alone before wearing, and separately from lighter colors if you order dark sets.
